One ingredient desirable for an outdoor cinema is fine
weather, and it is hoped warm weather is on the cards next
weekend.
Tomtom productions has sponsored the outdoor cinema at
Remarkables Park which will show Top Gun on Friday and
Two Little Boys on Saturday. Tomtom's Tom Lynch said
set-up was scheduled for Friday afternoon. The movie screen
would consist of fabric stretched across a frame likely to be
at least 5m wide, with an accompanying sound system.
''It's similar to what we did for jazz fest.''
Tomtom staff were recovering from December, which had been
their ''busiest month ever'' with numerous corporate events,
Rhythm and Alps and New Year's Eve.
''January is a bit nicer for us because the corporate work is
not here yet ... but it'll pick up in February and won't stop
until December,'' Mr Lynch said.
The outdoor cinema is part of the Summerdaze festival which
runs until the end of January. Still to feature are events
such as a PJ party in the library, the Fernhill/Sunshine Bay
family day and Twisted Tales in the Queenstown Gardens.
