• Friends of a 19-year-old German man called police on Sunday
to report their missing friend had called them saying he was
lost in the bush. Senior Constable Chris Blackford, of
Queenstown, said the man walked out on Monday morning after a
fall. He had some grazes but was otherwise fine.
Wednesday, January 23
• A 27-year-old German man was refused entry to a bar at 2am
and became angry about the decision. He was arrested, but
released with a pre-charge warning.
• Another burglary in Closeburn was reported to Queenstown
police, after two 16-year-olds were arrested last week and
jointly charged with 13 theft-related offences. Snr Const
Blackford said the latest victims had been absent from their
property which was why the theft had not been reported
• Queenstown police received a complaint from one Lake Hayes
Estate resident about bottles being thrown into her garden.
Snr Const Blackford said it was another example of ''unruly
behaviour'' on the estate. He encouraged neighbours to keep
an eye out for one another's property and report bad
behaviour to police.
• A 22-year-old Englishwoman was spoken to at Queenstown
Airport by police after she attempted to walk through air
security with a liquefied petroleum gas container and pepper
spray at 12.40pm.
• Police were called to an Arrowtown reserve at 7.40pm where
a woman had passed out after allegedly smoking a ''legal
high'' drug. The 21-year-old woman, who is serving a
home-detention sentence, caught a bus from Queenstown to
Arrowtown and met a young man described as ''Asian looking'',
Snr Const Blackford said. After getting off the bus the pair
went down a bank at the reserve and started to smoke. The
young woman woke up upset and nauseous and was picked up by
her family. The legal high she had smoked was 8ZN, Snr Const
• A 21-year-old Canadian woman was arrested and charged with
theft after being caught shoplifting at Fresh Choice at
9.55pm, police said. She allegedly ate a chocolate bar and
discarded the packaging on the shelf. When questioned by
police she also had a block of cheese and garlic she had
allegedly attempted to take.
