New parking restrictions in Arrowtown and Frankton have been
approved by the Queenstown Lakes District Council.
Short-term parking, intended to improve public access, has
been increased in Arrowtown. .
Unrestricted parks in Arrowtown were being used by all-day
parkers, so Buckingham St now has P10, P30, P60 and loading
parks, while Wiltshire St has P120 parks.
Parking restrictions have also been added to the shopping
centre in Frankton, at the corner of Frankton and Kawarau
Rds. Maximum stays of 60 minutes will be implemented at the
shopping centre and near the Frankton bus stop.
Parks on McBride St north will be available for 120 minutes,
with 10-hour parks available on weekdays in the Gray St
off-street park.
Two mobility parks have been added on Gray St.
The consultation process attracted 12 responses, with four in
support, two opposed, and six offering suggestions.
The cost for implementing the new parking restrictions was
$7800.
