The Wakatipu Rowing Club cleaned up at the South Island
Club Rowing Championships over the weekend.
The club won three gold medals, five silvers and a bronze at
the competition at Lake Ruataniwha, Twizel.
The men's novice eight has had an unbeaten season and will
look to continue that form at the New Zealand National Club
Championships in Twizel from February 19 to 23. George
Dennison (16), Latham Jones (17), Reid Long (17), Logan Boyd
(17) and coxswain Henry Matthews (13) had success in the
men's novice four and will also compete in Twizel this month.
Jacqui Bell (15), Georgia Bewley (16), Jordan Murphy (16),
Monique Lynes (16) and cox Lucy Dickson (13) won gold in the
under-18 girls' quad and silver in the under-17 girls' quad.
James Ramsay (15), Dylan O'Connor (15), Hayden Bewley (14)
Jacob Flanagan (14) and cox Ben Wales (15) won silver in
under-16 boys' quad, after which James and Dylan won bronze
in the under-16 boys' double. Jacob, Hayden, Joseph Swale
(13), Nick Foley (14) and Ben won a silver medal in the
under-15 boys' quad.
In other results, Nick and Richard McLaughlan (15) won a
silver medal in the men's novice quad; Joseph and Jack Swale
were seventh in the men's novice double; Michael Foley and
Willem van der Kaag were fourth in the under-18 boys' double;
and Nina Champion won the B final of the under-16 girls'
single.
