Thousands of spectators and supporters joined athletes at Butler's Green in Arrowtown at the finish line of the Motatapu events last year.
This year the off-road marathon has attracted 550 runners, the off-road triathlon 100 individuals and 39 teams, and the Arrow Miners' run 400 runners.
The second edition of the multisport race (river kayak-mountain bike-run), which starts at the Matukituki River at Wanaka and finishes at Arrowtown, has 30 competitors.
The 47km mountain bike race, starting at Glendhu Bay and ending at Arrowtown, has already closed at 2000 entries.
