Crowne Plaza Queenstown appointed Kylie Walker and Lisa Ellerton to two key sales and marketing positions last week.

Ms Walker was announced as the hotel's sales and marketing manager. She has more than 20 years' experience in the sales, marketing and tourism industries and joins the company from Air New Zealand Holidays where she was the Queenstown manager.

Previously, she was national tourism marketing and distribution company Tourism Exchange's regional development manager and also spent seven years at Millbrook Resort as international sales manager and in a range of senior operational roles.

Ms Walker said Crowne Plaza Queenstown was an ''iconic property'' and she considered herself fortunate to be joining ''a fabulous team which is committed to its success''.

Ms Ellerton has been promoted to the role of Crowne meetings director as part of the hotel's commitment to supporting staff to ''move through the ranks''.

In 1997, Ms Ellerton started her tourism career with Swallow International Hotel Group in the United Kingdom and joined the Crowne Plaza Queenstown 10 years later as a food and beverage attendant.

She worked her way up to restaurant supervisor before moving into the banquets team.

As the hotel's key contact for the Meetings, Incentive, Conference and Events (Mice) market, Ms Ellerton said she was looking forward to the new challenge and working alongside Ms Walker to drive conference business and enhance the meetings product at the hotel.
