Wilding pines are seen as a possible energy source.
Alternative energy sources such as wilding pines and
solar power will be discussed at a forum on Monday at the
Queenstown Lakes District Council chambers in Queenstown, and
in the council's Wanaka office linked by video. The public
meeting runs from 4.30pm to 6pm.
The meeting will look at the region's energy use and supply
over time, including past, present and future, and guest
speakers will offer specialist knowledge.
Energy Consultant Lloyd McGinty will speak on the potential
of wilding pines as an energy source, and Yevrah Ornstein on
the future of solar power. Scott Jones, from Grid Tied Solar,
will also speak.
The forum has been organised by Steve Henry, of the Centre
for Sustainable Practice.
Volunteers are needed for a task force to develop the ideas.
Everyone is welcome.
