Popular artists rock new venue

Wine, a stunning sunset over the Gibbston hills, New Zealand musicians and an energetic but well-behaved crowd all equated to a success story for the seventh annual Classic Hits Winery Tour, which came to Gibbston for the first time on Tuesday.

A crowd of more than 1500 was entertained by New Zealand's Got Talent winner Clara van Wel, the Adults, AnikaBoh&Hollie and Fat Freddy's Drop.

The show was the 11th in a series of 17 in a nationwide tour which is to conclude in Hamilton on March 3.

Concert co-promoter Campbell Smith described the Gibbston show as ''absolute perfection''.

''The bands played as well as they ever have, the crowd was fantastic and our new venue, Waitiri Creek, was fantastic.

''This was one of the best shows we've ever done.''

The series is tipped to return to Gibbston in 2014.
