Submissions on the Queenstown Lakes District Council's draft consultation report of its organisational review, which proposes some jobs will go, closed yesterday with 53 submissions received.
The council's chief executive, Adam Feeley, said the submissions were from individuals and groups and he told the Otago Daily Times yesterday he expected the number would increase, as they were still being forwarded to him by the review team.
The review team is being chaired by former Local Government NZ and Auckland Regional Council chief executive Peter Winder.
Mr Feeley began as chief executive at the council last October, coming from the Serious Fraud Office, to replace former chief executive Debra Lawson. Mr Feeley said he had worked on 10 organisational reviews in his time, the present one had received ''the highest level'' of response he had seen.
Submissions had been received from those employed across a range of positions at the council and both the council-controlled organisations of Lakes Leisure and Lakes Environmental, he said.
Despite confirming to the Otago Daily Times at the beginning of the month that ''there will be some people out of work'', Mr Feeley said yesterday ''the vast majority [of submissions] are positive''.
''If there is a common comment, the overall direction of the change is good ...''
The review has now entered a decision-making period.
Mr Feeley will announce decisions on April 30.
