There is ''no plan at this point'' for the Shotover St building gutted by fire on Friday, the man whose company owns the building said yesterday.
Dave Boyd, whose company Boyd Corp Finance Ltd owns the building, said it was ''far too soon to say'' what might become of the structure which housed the World Bar and Fat Badgers Pizza.
Discussions with Lakes Environmental and insurers had been taking place during the past four days and Mr Boyd was gearing up for a long road ahead.
''It's a long process.''
It is thought the fire started at a fat fryer at the pizza restaurant and then spread upstairs to the World Bar.
Both businesses were extensively damaged. Southern region fire safety officer Stuart Ide yesterday said there was no update on the official investigation.
''We're still waiting for an assessment to be done on the deep fat fryer,'' Mr Ide said.
