An Arrowtown-based company established last year has won a silver award in the 2013 International Wine and Spirit Competition for its gin.
It is the second award for gin produced by Broken Heart Spirits, founded by Annie Robertson and Joerg Henkenhaf .
The company's gin also won a silver award at the International Distilla in Austria earlier this year.
The competition, founded in 1969, is considered to be the most prestigious of its kind in the world with judging over two stages.
All entries were first blind tasted in groups, divided by variety, region and vintage as necessary, by judges selected from a pool of more than 300.
The top products were then sent for detailed chemical and microbiological analysis, which could result in points deducted or products rejected.
Ms Robertson said she and Mr Henkenhaf were honoured to have been recognised by the industry at such a prestigious competition.
