Organisers of the 2013 Remarkables Ice and Mixed Festival say
it was the largest gathering of climbers in New Zealand after
more than 150 attended the event, which ended on Sunday.
The annual event raised $16,500 for the New Zealand Alpine
Club's Expedition Capital Fund.
An award ceremony was held during the festival and winners
included Jono Clarke (pictured climbing at the Telecom Tower
on the Remarkables), of Wellington, who won the award for
hardest repeated route by a male.
Di Drayton, also of Wellington, took the women's prize.
Other winners were: Double to Single Cone traverse race,
Danny Murphy, of Queenstown, and Mike Buchanan, of
Wellington; hardest new route of the festival, Daniel Joll,
