Blanket Bay has been named in the top 20 of an Australian
travel magazine's inaugural 100 Best Hotels and Resorts in
the World list.
International Traveller has named the five-star lodge,
near Glenorchy, in 16th place - voted by an panel of 17
Wharekauhau Lodge, in Wairarapa, was named in 11th spot.
Publisher Quentin Long said the judges were all astute,
well-known and well-travelled writers, with more than 230
years' combined travel-writing experience.
''While most 'best of' lists are voted for by readers, we
felt that an expert panel would provide a valid judgement of

worldwide,'' he said.
Blanket Bay General Manager Philip Jenkins said that he was
''delighted'' for the special property to feature alongside
others including the best in the world, Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc
in the French Riviera.
Mr Jenkins said the accolade reflected Blanket Bay's
continued commitment to delivering a standard of service that
reflected its standing as a truly remarkable New Zealand
