Rolling delays of up to 10 minutes on a short stretch of the
Glenorchy Rd will be in place from today, to enable routine
slip stabilisation work at the 12 Mile Bluff.
The work will be carried out from 9am-5pm, Monday to Friday.
The road will be opened every 10 minutes and on the hour
every hour, between 9am and 4.30pm.
Queenstown Lakes District Council contractors would be
carrying out abseil scaling to remove loose material and
inserting rock bolts to stabilise rocks. The techniques are
widely used on rocky bluffs.
The work is expected to be complete by September 27.
