Independent commissioners David Whitney and David Clarke have
15 working days to decide whether to allow a proposed ferry
to operate between Park St and the Kelvin Peninsula.
The proposal, which attracted 55 submissions in support, 51
against and six neutral, has been the subject of a three-day
hearing, which ended yesterday.
The ferry is being proposed by Real Journeys, which also
operates TSS Earnslaw, and the proposal includes a ferry
terminal in Park St, near Jubilee Park, and a second terminal
near the western end of the Wakatipu Yacht Club on Kelvin
Real Journeys has proposed operating hours for the ferry of
6am to either 10pm or midnight, depending on the season.
