Cool temperatures and a passing spring shower failed to deter those taking part in a parade through Wanaka's main streets yesterday afternoon signalling the start of Wanakafest, which continues through Labour Weekend.
Spectators had the advantage of being able to shelter under trees along the route, but many of those on floats such as the Mitre 10 entry got damp.
