Tony Somerville, of Kaka Point was a crowd favourite during the Arrowtown Preschool Trolley Derby on Saturday.

There was action aplenty when hundreds of people turned out in perfect conditions to watch the derby.

The two-yearly event attracted 14 trolley racers to Arrowtown, including entrants from Kaka Point and Dunedin, vying for the title and raising funds for upgrades to the Manse Rd and Cotter Ave preschool's outdoor areas.

The speed wobbles affected some entrants, who crashed out during the time trials with irreparable damage to their trolleys - fortunately, escaping injury themselves.

James Manning, of Queenstown, was crowned the 2013 winner.
