The beaches of Queenstown Bay, Frankton and Roys Bay, Wanaka,
will be cleared of washed-up debris by contractors, but not
yet, the Queenstown Lakes District Council says.
The Queenstown Bay beach is littered with driftwood and even
refuse. However, water levels in the lakes are still
considered high and more rain and high levels are expected at
this time of year.
Clearance of debris on those three beaches the council
maintains will most likely be done in December, certainly
before Christmas, but the date will be determined by the
conditions and the weather forecast.
