It's high tea time

One of Queenstown's regal women will again welcome guests this month for the third Laurel Bank Christmas High Tea event.

Owner Sheena Haywood, who bought and restored the 121-year-old home at Ladies Mile with her husband Stephen Brent, is taking bookings for the high teas, to be held over two sittings on December 14 and 21.

Three different rooms would be set up for the events, all of which would be Christmas themed, including the formal dining room and the family dining room.

Silver service would also be provided, with guests dining on ''really traditional Christmas nibbles,'' including brandy snaps, mince tarts, asparagus rolls, sandwiches, ''with a bit of a twist'', and ''bottomless cups of tea and coffee''.

Mrs Haywood said bookings for the $25 event were essential, with guests able to choose between 11am and 2pm sittings on both days.
