Young guests vandalise holiday park

About $2700 worth of damage was caused to a lodge at the Wanaka Lakeview Holiday Park on Saturday night by 17 young guests.

Constable Peter Reed said the group were all aged in their early 20s and from Wellington, Christchurch and Palmerston North.

They had smashed a lock and a window and put several holes in the wall of the accommodation in which they were staying at the camping ground, he said.

One member of the group had been charged after allegedly stealing a bike from town and riding it back to the camping ground.

Members of the party responsible for the damage to the lodge had agreed to cover the cost of it and would not face charges, Const Reed said.
