Australia has Queenstown for breakfast

Queenstown's promotional push in New Zealand's biggest tourism market has scored exposure on Australia's most watched breakfast television programme.

Sunrise airs daily on Channel 7, between 6am and 9am, to more than 300,000 viewers.

Weather presenter Edwina Bartholomew was to go live with weather broadcasts every half-hour from two Queenstown locations yesterday and today.

The outside broadcast took place yesterday at the Kawarau Bridge, where the presenter talked about 25 years of adrenaline thrills with AJ Hackett Bungy co-founder Henry van Asch.

Today the presenter went for a ride on the Skyline Gondola to try luging and paragliding.

The show was also to head to Glenorchy with Dart River Jet.

Destination Queenstown and Tourism New Zealand secured Sunrise through the TNZ international media programme.

Destination Queenstown chief executive Graham Budd was delighted.

''In this campaign we are showcasing our beauty and thrilling adventures, as well as reinforcing how accessible we are to Australian visitors.''
