Passenger cut from wreckage of car

A passenger had to be cut from a car which collided with a taxi on Hensman Rd, off Frankton Rd, at 10.49pm on Sunday.

Senior Constable Chris Blackford said a 26-year-old Irishman living in Perth, Australia, failed to take a left-hand bend and collided with a taxi.

The taxi driver suffered broken ribs and the Irishman's passenger - his brother - was flown to Dunedin Hospital with a suspected fractured skull.

Police are awaiting the result of a blood sample from the Irishman.
