Queenstown authorities are on the hunt for the owners of two "exceptionally cute" puppies found wandering by the Millennium Hotel last night.

Appeals through social media have turned up offers to give the male and female Labrador-cross pups a home but as yet there's been no word from the owners.

Queenstown Animal Control Officer Tony Johnstone says the puppies will spend the next few nights with a local vet as they're too young to go to the pound.

If their owner doesn't claim them in seven days they will be rehomed.
