Karting, ten-pin bowling, gym planned

Karting, ten-pin bowling and a gym are the newest additions to plans for ventures on the Frankton Flats.

Willow Place Family Trust Ltd has lodged a resource consent application with the Queenstown Lakes District Council for the activities and the proposed building which will contain them at Remarkables Park on the northern side of Hawthorne Dr.

The ten-pin bowling will have eight to 10 lanes and the karting will occupy more than 2000sq m of the building with a maximum of 10 karts running at one time, the resource consent application said.

Vehicles would have access to the activities via the planned eastern access road - an arterial road running through the Remarkables Park Zone which is to provide key links between State Highway 6, around Queenstown Airport and back to the highway at the Kawarau Falls Bridge.

The vehicles would turn off the eastern access road on to Red Oaks Dr to get to the building.

The gym, the application said, ''will provide only two instructors and will be providing one-on-one training''.

''It is estimated that it will attract up to eight to 10 patrons at a time. It will not provide large-scale classes.''
