Tuition for young players

The sum of $5000 was given to the Lakes Community Music School by the Peter Wilding Trust, and $2000 by the Central Lakes Arts Support Scheme, administered by the Queenstown Lakes District Council.

The school has been co-founded and operated by Queenstown music teachers Emma Wilson (pictured left) and Alison Price.

Mrs Wilson thanked the organisations for their support and said the grants made classes viable for at least two terms.

They will tutor a variety of instruments to years 5 to 8 children, but would consider younger pupils and adults and were keen to recruit more

teachers.

The first workshop and ''meet the teachers'' session will be held in the music room of Wakatipu High School on February 1.
