A total of 52 residential houses were sold in the Queenstown and Arrowtown area during December, down slightly from 55 sales in December 2012, national real estate statistics show.
The December five- and 10-year averages for the number of sales were 45 and 49 respectively.
It took an average of 66 days to sell a dwelling last December compared with 49 days in December 2012. The median sale price in December 2013 was $513,000 compared with $568,000 in December 2012.
During the past six months there have been 273 sales.
This compares with 285 for the same period in 2012 and 219 for 2011.
During the past 12 months there were 597 sales, compared with 586 for the same period the year before and 455 for the year before that.
The total value of residential housing sales during 2013 was $376.6 million.
It compares with $377.4 million for the same period in 2012 and $285.9m for 2011.
