The disposal process for the old Wanaka police station is set
to begin later this month.
The Helwick St building was recently transferred to Land
Information New Zealand (Linz) for disposal after being
vacated last September when Wanaka's policing staff moved to
new $3 million headquarters in Ballantyne Rd.
Linz Crown Property Management acting manager John Hook said
yesterday Linz was undertaking due diligence work on the
station and the disposal process was likely to begin at the
end of February.
Under the Public Works Act 1981 the statutory process Linz
must follow for disposal of Crown land requires firstly
determining if the property is needed for any other public
works, then whether the land needs to be offered back to the
person the Crown originally bought it from, or their
