Classic rock fans have come out in force for the Gibbston
Summer Concert today.
A crowd of 14,000, the largest audience of the participating
bands' New Zealand tour, massed in overcast but dry
conditions near Queenstown.
Wanaka singer-songwriter Jody Direen impressed with her set
of originals before English art rockers 10CC got the crowd in
their feet with hits such as 'Dreadlock Holiday'.
US band Starship played to great acclaim, with power ballad
'We Built This City' especially well received.
Headliners Lynyrd Skynyrd were scheduled to play later in the
afternoon, before the good-natured and diverse audience.
