A fire which caused ''‘considerable smoke damage'' to a
Queenstown hotel's kitchen yesterday is thought to have
started in a deep-fryer.
Fire crews from Queenstown and Frankton attended the blaze at
the Discovery Sherwood Hotel in Goldfield Heights, off
Frankton Rd, about 5.15pm.
Queenstown Volunteer Fire Brigade station officer Duncan
Fisher described the fire as small. It was prevented from
spreading from the kitchen.
The fire crews were at the hotel for more than an hour but
the fire was soon extinguished.
