Body in Queenstown home for a week

The body of a man found dead in a Queenstown holiday home at the weekend is believed to have been there for six or seven days.

The Christchurch coroner is dealing with the death after the body was removed around noon on Saturday from a property in Tucker Beach Rd, Fairfax media reports.

The property is near a cluster of designer holiday homes and fulltime residences overlooking the Shotover River.

Details were scant because there had been problems identifying the man, police said.

"There were some issues with identification, due to the nature of decomposition, as it was believed the body had been in the house for six or seven days," Senior Constable Chris Blackford said

The Coroner's Office confirmed Christchurch coroner Richard McElrea was dealing with the case.
