Ripping good tournament

Damien O'Connell, who organised the tournament on behalf of the Otago Rugby Union, said 18 teams from across Central Otago in the years 3 and 4, 5 and 6, 7 and 8 age groups qualified for the tournament.

Areas represented in Queenstown yesterday included Wanaka, Maniototo, Alexandra, Teviot Valley, Arrowtown and Queenstown.

The top two teams from each age group competing yesterday qualified for the Otago tournament, being held in Dunedin next month.

Qualifying teams were: Years 3&4: RPS Little Rippers (Remarkables Primary School), Terrace Tigers (The Terrace School); years 5&6: Arrow Dolphins (Arrowtown Primary School), RPS Speedsters (Remarkables Primary School); years 7&8: RPS Dream Team (Remarkables Primary School), Arrowtown Heat (Arrowtown Primary School).
