Queenstown Police are working to identify three would-be pirates who boarded the Spirit of Queenstown early on Saturday and took selfies on board the boat, before inflating a lifeboat and fleeing the scene.
Video taken from the boat's CCTV cameras shows two men and a women boarding the boat and exploring it, before stopping to take photos of themselves.
They later set off the inflatable boat which "made a loud bang as it deployed'' before running away.
