Development attracting young

Photo by Stephen JaquieryThe massive 750-section Shotover Country residential development near Queenstown, pictured this week, is attracting mostly young people and young families.

Sections went on sale in November 2012, and Shotover Country sales director Sharyn Stalker recently told the Mountain Scene newspaper 220 had sold.

''They're mostly young people. People that are here; they are working or have businesses. There are very few spec houses. They're mostly building.''

The development covers 120ha 10km northeast of Queenstown and is being developed for housing and small-scale retail activity.

The Queenstown Lakes Community Housing Trust has secured 44 titles at Shotover Country for affordable housing.
