Police are making ''another push'' for information about the death of Rutger Hale (22), who died in a crash on State Highway 6 between Lake Hawea and Wanaka, in October last year.

Mr Hale was killed by an unidentified object that smashed through his windscreen and struck him while he was driving between Lake Hawea and Wanaka on his way to work, accompanied by his girlfriend.

Detective Sergeant Brian Cameron, of the Queenstown CIB, said yesterday an inquest into Mr Hale's death would be held in Queenstown on September 19. Police still hoped someone would come forward with information, he said.

Police have carried out work including analysis of samples of material found in Mr Hale's Subaru vehicle.

Det Sgt Cameron said because the case was before the coroner he was not in a position to comment on any of its details.

''However, if you do know something about what happened on that day, please come forward.''

Anyone with information can contact Det Sgt Cameron on (03) 441-1625. Information can also be provided anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555-111.
