The airport employs more than 350 people servicing aircraft and passengers travelling throughout New Zealand, the east coast of Australia and tourist flight seeing.

Earlier this month the airport company announced a 27.6% growth in transtasman passenger numbers, from 241,714 in the year to June 30, 2013 to 308,402 at the same date this year.
