Man on cannabis charge

Queenstown police have charged a second Englishman with dealing cannabis in the resort.

Officers arrested the man (21) at 3pm on Tuesday and charged him with possession of the class C drug for supply under the Misuse of Drugs Act.

The arrest follows that of another British man (26) early on Friday. He is accused of dealing in ounces of cannabis over the past year and faces a representative charge of possession for supply.

Two French nationals were stopped by police in Wynyard Cres, Fernhill, at 2.50am that same day and allegedly found to be in possession of 11g of cannabis and a cannabis grinder.

And officers arrested an Arrowtown man (24) near the Beach St toilets early on Saturday after he was seen with a white powder, believed to be cocaine.

The powder has been sent away for tests.

Meanwhile, an American tourist was processed for drink-driving after crashing his rental car on a rural Queenstown road.

The teenager (19), who lives in Wellington, spun off Moke Lake Rd about 12.15am on Tuesday.

''He's lost control on a sharp right-hand bend,'' Senior Constable Chris Blackford said.

The teenager allegedly had 679mcg of alcohol per litre of breath in an evidential breath test. The legal limit is 400mcg.
