Carving out a lead at Coronet

Australia's Luc Henri Chevalier competes in the Australia New Zealand Cup FIS giant slalom at Coronet Peak yesterday.

Chevalier ended the two-day event as the Australasian leader, with a total time of 1min 37.99sec, ranked 10th overall.

Queenstown's Adam Barwood was the top-ranked New Zealander, with a total time of 1:38.14, putting him in 12th place overall.

In the women's event, Norway's Ragnhild Mowinckel finished first with a total time of 1:37.64, while Piera Hudson (Hawkes Bay/Wanaka) was top-ranked New Zealander, in 23rd place with a total time of 1:41.63. Races will continue at Coronet Peak today and tomorrow.

The finals will be held at Mt Hutt from September 15.
