An Australian couple made history in Queenstown when they celebrated their wedding with a snowboard run down the Remarkables.

Nathan McGinnes (32) and his partner Talitha (26), nee George, of Brisbane, got married in Queenstown.

The bride, groom and wedding party dressed up again the day after the wedding and headed for the hill, turning heads as they blasted down the mountain dressed in their finery.

''We were going to just be catching the chairlift [up] and getting the skidoo back down and they said `do you want to try snowboarding?' Mrs McGinnes said.

''I made it down without falling, so I'm happy with that.''

Her wedding dress survived the run, which took in ''the Corkscrew'' - dubbed ''the Love Tunnel'' in their honour by Remarkables staff - unscathed, she said.
