Thirty years of convening the country's largest book sale, the Star Regent 24-hour Book Sale, in Dunedin, wasn't enough for Doug Lovell (left), pictured with committee members Pam Brown and Peter Harridge.

He is now into his third year helping with the three-day Wanaka Rotary Club book sale, which opens in the Spencer House Mall this morning.

The Wanaka sale has been going 22 years and last year generated $13,500. This year's sale attracted a flood of books, ranging from The Thoughts of Chairman Fred by Fred Dagg to Eleanor Catton's The Luminaries.
