Rosie Foster, of Lake Hawea, checks out the effect some coloured light will have on part of the sugar plum fairy costume she has designed for the Wanaka Wearable Creations Show, which begins its three-night run tomorrow night.

Materials used for the costumes range from seaweed, pine cones and used coffee cups to fertiliser bags, No 8 wire and cable ties.

Held every two years, the show has attracted 20 entries and a line-up of new artists, which is expected to provide a fresh look.

Although the show is not a competition, director Anna Mackay said members of the audience would have the chance to vote for the creation they enjoyed the most this year.

Saturday's show was booked out with just a few seats remaining for tomorrow and Friday, she said.
