Sections being snapped up

The last available sections in Wanaka's sought-after Meadowstone subdivision are being snapped up following their release last week, 20 years after the development's launch.

Since Willowridge Developments Ltd released its final 20 sections in Meadowstone on Friday, more than half had sold off the plan, company director Allan Dippie said.

''And we expect to be sold out very soon ... we have 12 unconditional signed sales contracts so far with some more to finalise this week, so it's been a busy few days.''

The sites, ranging in price from $239,000 to $349,000, are at the southern end of Old Station Ave on the final piece of undeveloped land in Meadowstone.

Most of the buyers were local people wishing to build their own homes, Mr Dippie said.

''We have a policy of only allowing one section per buyer which helps ensure the sections are well spread to homeowners in what is a very buoyant market.''

Construction of the stage would begin immediately with completion due midway through next year.

Most of the buyers had also expressed a desire to build within a short time frame.

As the final stage's release marked the 20th anniversary of Meadowstone, Willowridge included a $5000 building or gardening voucher with every section.

''Although in reality it probably made very little difference to sales given the popularity Meadowstone seems to enjoy.''

Earlier in the year, Willowridge sold 18 sections at the other end of Old Station Ave, next to Wanaka-Mt Aspiring Rd, in a few days.

Titles for those sites were coming out this week.

Stage five of Willowridge's West Meadows development, west of Cardrona Valley Rd, is also well under way, with 50% of the sections pre-sold.

''All this sales activity is a very good sign for the Wanaka construction industry, its builders, subcontractors and their suppliers,'' Mr Dippie said.
