One of the men facing charges over an alleged kidnapping in Queenstown has been remanded for another week.

Joshua James Veint (23), farm hand, of Glenorchy, is facing charges of kidnapping, wounding with intent and possession of the class A drug methamphetamine after events two weeks ago.

At a brief appearance in the Invercargill District Court yesterday Judge Gary MacAskill remanded him without plea to reappear next Friday.

Veint, who has been in custody since his arrest on December 3, did not apply for bail yesterday.

• Veint's mother Susanne Veint (49) has been charged with hiding her son from police.

The Glenorchy woman appeared before a registrar in the Queenstown District Court earlier this week, charged with being an accessory after the fact.

The full charge is that on November 26, knowing that her son had committed the crime of kidnapping, she assisted him to avoid arrest.

Susanne Veint will appear in court again on Monday.
