A rapdily moving fire at Hawea Flat has been bought under control this evening after a destroying a structure and coming close to razing homes.
Four fire brigades and two helicopters with monsoon buckets were used to the fight the blaze.
It is not known what caused the fire, but continued dry conditions has made the fire risk extreme throughout the province.
