Chinese man charged after crash

A 32-year-old Chinese man will appear in the Queenstown District Court, charged with careless driving.

Sergeant Mark Gill, of Queenstown, said the man was arrested at 7.45pm on Friday following a non-injury crash on State Highway 6, between Queenstown and Kingston.

Sgt Gill said the man was driving south, towards Kingston, when his vehicle ''strayed left''.

The car then hit a marker post and a bank, causing ''extensive damage''.

• Two men, both in their 30s, will appear in the Queenstown District Court following separate disorderly behaviour incidents in the resort over the weekend.

In the first, a 35-year-old Englishman, living in Queenstown, was arrested at 1.30am on Sunday after falling on to the bonnet of a taxi.

Sgt Gill said the man was intoxicated and as the taxi pulled up on Ballarat St he fell on the bonnet, before remonstrating with the driver.

A member of the public told the man to ''calm down'', but he began to wrestle with that person, causing a shirt to be ripped.

At 6pm on Sunday, a 32-year-old Scotsman was arrested following an incident at Brazz. Sgt Gill said the man was inside the Athol St bar about 6pm when he began throwing bottles.

He became ''abusive and aggressive'' when he was asked to leave the bar, but was removed by associates.

Outside the bar he continued the behaviour until police arrived.
