1661km by Law in long run

An ''elated'' Mal Law was yesterday still processing the fact his 50 day running challenge had finished.

The runner was met by a guard of honour when he crossed the line at the end of the Dual marathon in Auckland on Saturday, the final day of his High Five 0 Challenge which began with the Tarawera Ultramarathon on February 7.

The moment marked the completion of a quest which saw him cover 1661km, climb more than 82,000m and spend 428 hours on his feet, raising more than $430,000 for the Mental Health Foundation of New Zealand.

Yesterday, Mr Law was feeling ''pretty chipper'', despite his huge physical exertion over the past two months. He celebrated with a party to celebrate his achievement.

''It's still settling in. I'm still getting used to the idea of it being finished ... I'm pretty elated,'' he said from Auckland.

''I always knew it was going to be pretty special at the finish line but they made it absolutely ridiculously special with the reception that we got.''

Mr Law recently increased his fundraising target to $505,050 and remains determined to keep promoting the cause until the figure is reached.
