A Wanaka man and a Kingston man will appear in the Queenstown District Court on cannabis cultivation charges on April 13 after a series of search warrant operations on Monday and Tuesday.

Detective Alan Lee, of Alexandra, said the arrests were not related and there was no ''organised crime'' element to the alleged offending.

A ''reasonable amount'' of cannabis plants and dried cannabis was recovered, while two people in Wanaka received warnings for possessing drug utensils.

About 20 plants were recovered from scrub around Lake Wanaka, six at Hawea Flat, and eight near the Neck. Plants were also found on private property between Luggate and Tarras.

In Kingston, police recovered 13 plants.
