Museum providing props for Disney film

Props from Wanaka's National Transport and Toy Museum are to appear in the Walt Disney Studios' remake of Pete's Dragon, being filmed in Tapanui this month.

However, exactly which items from the museum collection will feature in the film remains a closely-guarded secret.

Museum curator Jason Rhodes was busy yesterday preparing props for transport to Tapanui, where he will work with the film crew for about a week from this Friday.

The museum was bound by a confidentiality agreement so he could offer no detail on whether vehicles or other exhibits were being supplied.

''We can say we're involved with it, but we can't say to what level.''

Already, some museum props had been provided for filming of Pete's Dragon in Wellington and other North Island locations.

''Before Christmas they started working on stuff. So we've had quite a bit of involvement with them. It's just ongoing.''

Robert Redford stars in the remake of the 1977 Disney classic.
