A world-renowned climber, a multisport legend and a professional kayaker will entertain the crowds at this year's New Zealand Mountain Film Festival, being held in Wanaka and Queenstown from July 3 to 11.
Alex Honnold, a solo free climber from the United States, will be the keynote speaker at the 13th annual festival.
Honnold has starred in many of the festival's films throughout the years and achieved Yosemite's first ''triple solo'' in 2012, when he climbed the US national park's three largest faces - Mt Watkins, Half Dome and El Capitan - alone, and in under 24 hours.
Festival director Mark Sedon said it was a ''real coup'' to have secured Honnold, who will speak in both Queenstown and Wanaka.
Joining Honnold is New Zealand adventurer Steve Gurney, who will talk about his attempt to be the first to cross the Sahara in a kite buggy and to set the 1000km record for a kite journey.
New Zealander Ben Brown will speak about his life and lessons learned while travelling the world as a professional kayaker.
The festival will again cater to budding film-makers, with the adventure film school under tutor Hugh Barnard. Entries for the festival film competition close on April 30.
