Festival ball tickets sold out

Neither glass slippers nor a fairy godmother will get you into the ball at this year's Queenstown Winter Festival.

Tickets for the 25 tables at the Masquerade en Blanc Ball on June 27 sold out within an hour of going on sale at noon yesterday.

Festival manager Lisa Buckingham said she was not surprised at the rapid sellout, as the ball had been one of the most popular events on the festival's programme since it was reintroduced in 2013.

''It's testament to the quality of the event.''

Selling for $159 a head for tables of eight to 10 people, the tickets included a three-course meal, local wine and live entertainment.

Those wanting to attend other festival events such as Comedy Night, When Gibbston Meets Koko and the Comedy Debate needed to ''get in quick'', Mrs Buckingham said.

''We think a lot of people will be disappointed to have missed out, so will get their act together and make sure they get tickets for these other events.''

The Masquerade en Blanc Ball will be held at the Queenstown Memorial Centre.
