Destination Queenstown is moving to new premises this week.

Now based in the Malaghan Building on Stanley St, the Destination Queenstown team is packing up and shifting to the Village Green Building, also on Stanley St.

Chief executive Graham Budd said the move would help meet growth needs of the organisation, which had doubled in size since moving into the building 15 years ago.

''Fundamentally, we want a place that is inviting to both members and visitors, as well as an appropriate shop-front for Destination Queenstown.''

The organisation is responsible for marketing Queenstown externally and has been looking for a downtown location for some time.

Mr Budd said a priority was keeping the 12-strong team together and he thought the new location was ideal.

With hosting opportunities increasing, the new building offered more facilities, including a boardroom.

''The move will really connect us to the hub of the town. It gives us more space, is really convenient and we are looking forward to it.''

The organisation is not relinquishing its former space.

Its WinterFest team and accounts department will move to the old Malaghan address.

The team will move to the Village Green building this Thursday.
